My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Waylon came to us on euthanasia day from a rural shelter in Kentucky, exactly as shown in photo...with a tie out clip hanging from his collar. He was so terrified on his first trip to the vet that he sat in his crate with his face in the corner, hoping we wouldn't see him. Waylon was visibly traumatized by his time in the shelter and all the chaos his life had become. We brought him home and just gave him a little time and he has emerged as a happy, playful guy. We think he is a young adult because he really loves playing with his toys and has that attitude. He gets along with other dogs very well. The only issue we see with Waylon is that he was obviously used to being tethered outdoors and running in circles and will do that on a leash...but we are working to get his mind out of that rut. He is timid about handling but has shown no fear issues of concern. He just tenses up sometimes and a few soft works and reassurances work wonders with him. He always has a wagging tail and is always excited to see the leash come out. He seems to be either housetrained or very close to it.

Waylon's adoption fee is $250. to help offset the costs of getting him all ready for adoption. He was brought up to date on vaccinations and parasite control and will be neutered, heartworm tested and microchipped prior to adoption. For more info on Waylon's adoption, please contactDAWN AT BLACKDOGSRESCUE@ICLOUD.COM. Waylon will then be available to meet his pre-approved adopter at an upcoming meet and greet in Hagerstown, MD.

Waylon could easily have lost his life at the shelter but he is getting a second chance.
