DAKOTA is a 7 year old spayed chocolate male Lab who weighs 80 pounds. Dakota is looking for a new family that can finally give him the love and attention he deserves! He previously lived indoors for several years but has been an outdoor dog for the last several years and deserves a fresh start! Dakota is a handsome, big chocolate gentleman. He likes to fetch! He is ok on leash but will benefit from an easy walk harness. He hasn't had any formal obedience. He is good with other dogs and previously lived with one. He is good with cats and previously lived with 2. He is good with children but has had little interaction with them. Dakota’s owner give up to lab rescue due to lack of time to care for him. He is approved for kids 10+
Update (01/07): Dakota has very affectionately become known as bear to his foster family. With his great thick coat, solid head, and large paws he is reminiscent of a grizzly. But this boy is all teddy bear! Find the right spot on his neck and he will lean in for a good rub and gaze into your eyes with the most grateful look, sometimes with his tongue lolling out. It's totally adorable. Dakota got a bath and although he wasn't excited about the experience, he was a good sport and very tolerant of the bath and even the girly shampoo. Dakota enjoys retrieving and exploring the yard. His foster sister isn't much of a playmate but they get along just fine. He also gets along with the cat, who has given him a couple swats just to make Dakota remember who is boss.
Update (11/30): Dakota is a gorgeous boy with a big blocky head. He loves to get attention and is trying to figure out new things. He's a sweet boy and wants to play with other dogs but doesn't always understand their cues, so he's looking for an adopter who will take him to training and continue working with him. He does well walking on an Easy Walk harness and he readily leans into you for love.
This dog is available for adoption from Lab Rescue LRCP. The rescue has between 50 ~ 80 dogs available for adoption.

An adoption fee is charged to cover the cost of veterinary care and a house check is required.
