I am an 8 year old, very handsome male Shih Tzu with a cream and tan colored coat. I am a big boy (22 pounds) but am not excessively overweight. I had a happy, loving home where I was well care for, but my family couldn’t keep me because of their economic situation, and I was forced me to leave my home. So I came into rescue hoping for another happy, loving home, but one where I will be able to stay forever. I am in excellent health, well trained and love to play. But I also like to cuddle and enjoy some quiet time being close to my people. The vet said I should lose about two pounds to be at my ideal weight. Taking the two pounds off should be pretty easy, because I love to go for walks, like to be active and to play, especially with squeaky toys. I would like a new home with an active family who will include me in their activities, take me for walks and play with me in the yard or park. Older respectful children would be wonderful in my new family.
J.D.’s foster mom says that he is just a perfect boy. He is sweet and gentle, well behaved, and loves to meet new people. He gets along well with his foster dog sister but it is unknown how he will do around animals other than dogs, such as cats. J.D. is house trained, very calm, barks very little, and loves to cuddle and nap next to you. He enjoys sleeping in his foster mom’s bed at night. He does not do well in a crate or kennel. He rides well in a car and walks very well on a leash.
J.D. is healthy, neutered, up to date on vaccinations and microchipped. His adoption fee is $220.00 with sales tax of $16.01 for a total of $236.01. His foster mom would like his adoptive family to live within a reasonable driving distance of the Twin Cities. She would also encourage his new family to come to the Shih Tzu Rescue Reunion held in June every year.
