Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet our little TROUPER:
While we enjoyed the warmth of our home, the love of family and friends and full bellies on Thanksgiving, this little boy was not. For the 2.5 years of his life, TROUPER was not given the warmth or love and sadly, he was left outside alone.
A neighbor had called Animal Control on several occasions (especially when last week the temperature dipped down into the low 30's), but because food and water were left out, they would not help. Thankfully, the neighbor then called Oregon Dachshund Rescue, Inc., and they were able to talk with his owners about the emotional, physical and well-being of this little boy and their decision was to surrender him.
Until now, TROUPER has never been vetted and is very thin. When ODR, Inc. was called to help on Thanksgiving Day, Jenell thought about all of you, all of those doxies who have gone to their beautiful adopted homes. So this Thanksgiving and today, for this sweet little boy, we open our hearts, our rescue and give you a new journey, a second chance to have the warmth of a home, the love of your very own humans and a healthy & strong body.
UPDATE FROM ODR, INC: TROUPER is getting stronger and is ready for adoption. Just take a look at this super cute little fella and let us know when you're ready to meet him.
OUR CRITERIA (aka The Fine Print):
Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 10 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer non smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc) Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember, these are rescues; many were surrendered because of these issues.
WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN WITH YOUR LITTLE RESCUE:
All our dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Pyrantyl, nails trimmed, and dental when needed. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $395, sorry no exceptions, as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.
Can you give TROUPER a happy, carefree life? If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.odr-inc.org and email it to: jrangan@comcast.net. The adoption committee will attempt to be in contact with you within 48-72 hours. Please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.
