My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Cinders and my brother Soot and I are 10 week old black cats. I am a long-haired black female and Soot is a short-haired black male. We have had a very hard life so far. We were born to a first time feral mom who tried her best to take care of the 5 of us but it was a very busy neighborhood and it was very hard to find food and the nights were so cold. Mommy had to move us so many times as people were doing construction, road work, and the neighbors very big dogs kept chasing us. The dogs killed 2 of our siblings and another just disappeared so Soot and I are all that is left of our family. Mommy kept telling us not to be afraid, that she would protect us, but she had to find food too so it was scary whenever she left us.
One day Mommy hid us in a big pile of sticks and went to look for food, while she was gone, someone set the pile on fire (they didn’t know we were there) and we almost died too. A very nice lady rescued us and got us to our foster home. We had to say goodbye to Mommy because she just did not want to be tamed. We miss her very much but at least she has a person who will feed her and she won’t have any more babies.
I wasn’t that happy about being “rescued” but I have to say it is nice to have a warm, soft place to sleep, food to eat, and lots of toys to play with. My brother Soot is a very silly boy, he is always jumping into any lap and purring all the time and wants to be pet constantly. I have a little more dignity, I make my foster mom work to get a purr out of me and I’m not the type to drool over anyone, but I will admit that being pet does make me purr now, I just try to keep it quiet and not look ridiculous like Soot. We both love string toys, especially our little mouse and the little bug we chase. We also love to chase the red laser dot.
I didn’t want to trust people ever again after all the bad things they did to us but Soot convinced me that not all people are bad and that a lot of people are like our foster mom and will be happy to have us in their home and will love us a lot and take care of us forever. After all we’ve been through, Soot and I would like to be adopted together and we both promise to be good kitties and to love our new family with all our hearts. If you’d like to meet us and talk about giving us a forever home, we’d love to hear from you.
Soot and Cinders are scheduled to be spayed/neutered on Wed. 12/3 at which time they’ll get their 1st distemper shot. Their mother tested negative for Felv/FIV, they have been wormed and treated for fleas. In about 2 weeks, they’ll need their rabies shot and in 4 weeks they’ll need their 2nd distemper shot.
