My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

“Its hard to wait around for something you know might never happen; but its harder to give up when you know its everything you want.” – Unknown

And what precious little lab girl doesn't want a family of her own? Midnight (Maddie for short) lived in the shelter from the time she was ten weeks old. She waited every day for 2 1/2 months and was finally taken into rescue and moved to a foster home at 5 months old. Her foster mom just can't imagine why so many people just overlooked her. Could it have been some scarring she has on her head? The doctor Maddie saw believes she may have been hit with bird shot when she was just a baby. This has in no way dimmed her sweet loving personality. Maddie is a 5 month old black lab baby weighing 24 lbs. her foster mom doesn't think she'll get bigger than 50 to 60 lbs. She has a beautiful glossy coat and the sweetest face. The scarring on her head should diminish as she grows and if not then what a story to be told. Maddie is spayed and up to date on all vaccinations and preventatives. This little girl is kennel and crate trained, she never fussed once. She stayed in a large outdoor kennel while foster mom was at work for the first week. This was only until she was completely house trained. Maddie now has free run of the house as she has very good house manners. She uses a doggy door to go potty and has proved to be non destructive. She plays with appropriate toys inside and out. Maddie is crated at night because she shares a home with 10 other foster siblings of all ages and sizes and foster mom needs everyone settled at bed time. This cutie loves playing in the big fenced in back yard and she isn't afraid of rain, must be a lab thing. She loves kisses and hugs and belly rubs. Maddie is a submissive little girl so she is accepted very well by everyone in the pack. She loves chasing after her sister and stealing toys from her. She also has a penchant for sticks and pine cones, periodically sneaking one by her foster mom, definitely a lab trait. Maddie is very calm, she likes to slowly explore her surroundings and equally enjoys curling up on a blanket for a nap somewhere near her human. She isn't much of a barker, in fact she's a pretty quiet pup unless she's playing tug with her sibling and that is actually a source of cheap entertainment. Maddie is learning basic commands, she know sit and off. So far she hasn't shown much interest in getting on the furniture but this could change as she becomes more familiar with her environment. She is a pretty quick learner and has adapted to a busy home routine in a very short time. Maddie loves the company of the 8 year old boy who visits. She is very good with cats, no barking or chasing just nose rubs. She is an excellent passenger in the car and very adept at opening up a bag of dog food during the ride. She is eager to please and loves food which is a great combination for training purposes. She readily responds to positive reinforcement, scolding would just break her heart. There just aren't enough words to describe how good this baby girl is. Maddie has waited a long time for the perfect loving forever home. Could you be the one to give her everything she wants?
