Dory is one of the loveliest and shyest cats we've met. Over time she has become much more trusting, and much more affectionate. She really wants affection and closeness, but she's still scared. She may need a few days of hiding and only coming out to explore when everyone is asleep at night. She will probably run away from you on sight for a little while, but if you are calm, she will learn that her new home is a safe place and will begin to approach you.
She now loves to be pet and has started climbing into laps and rubbing against legs. But she still is afraid of strangers, loud noises, quick movements, and practically everything else. She needs someone to help her go the rest of the way, and really let go of her fears.
Dory and her sister Ellie may have come from a hoarding situation as kittens. Unfortunately during that time they had developed some pretty bad dental issues that seemed to be caused by genetics. At a year old they've already had to have a few teeth pulled! Their new owner will have to be willing to go the extra mile for these girls' mouths, with a vet-recommended dental diet and periodic cleanings/check ups.
Her sister Ellie is Dory's rock. They're a bonded pair, and will need to be adopted together. They cuddle and play and generally comfort each other in uncertain times. Ellie is a bit shy, but much more confident than Dory, and will be the first to cuddle with you.
Dory is a sweet little cat who needs a child and dog-free home that is quiet with owners who are experienced at reading signals and are able to be patient and gentle while she and her sister Ellie come out of their shells.
