My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

"WIZARD" is a silver "Tiny" (and I mean TINY!) Toy Poodle who weighs just 2.9 pounds and only 7" tall!

He is one of the tiniest Poodles I've ever seen and has been the smallest Poodle at Picket Fence Poodle Rescue.

While Wizard loves to be held and carried around (how can you not pick up this tiny boy?) this is an active Poodle who can quickly go up and down steps and run into your arms!

He is quick to relieve himself outside and has been a perfect gentleman in his kennel and in our home.

Wizard is also a friendly, sociable and loving Poodle who will greet everyone. Nothing shy about this boy! He has a very positive attitude and is determined about surviving life, even after all that has happened to him.

Wizard doesn't realize he is tiny nor does he realize that he has a disability. He will stand up like a lion (with no teeth) to any Poodle who wants to take HIS toy or HIS treat away from him.

But then, he greatly enjoys playing "Tag! You're it" around the house with the other little Poodles! Later, he will cuddle with me or anyone of the Poodles.

Wizard was Vet checked healthy, but needed a lot of mouth and teeth work in addition to being neutered. Because all of his teeth had to be moved due to rot and infection, a part of his tongue will sometimes hang outside of his mouth. However, Wizard says: "Hey! I'm still prettier than that Sassy!"

Wizard dose NOT like soft food, so he is eating a small, hard (dog food) kibble with NO problems.

He was also neutered, heartworm tested negative, wormed and Micro chipped. All shots are up to date.

Sadly, little Wizard had a set-back when he developed an aggressive eye infection. As hard as I tried to save the eye, it did “blow” out. Then all of Wizard's sight in his right eye was gone forever. We could have left the deformed eye "as is", but instead chose to have the eye removed ("enucleation") and the socket sewn shut.
It was a risk either way, but we decided that it will best to have it removed.

Wizard's eye surgery went fine and he is doing JUST FINE! He can see JUST FINE with his one left eye. He will now look cosmetically better; a "permanent wink" will always be on his tiny face. Plus there will no longer be a chance of future eye infections or a lifetime of salves and ointments for him. Our Vet strongly supports our decision.

Wizard wanted to be a pirate for Halloween! Special "Thank You" to Dawn at the Salvation Army for the pirate sweater that Wizard really likes! He didn't like the eye patch, so we didn't use that.

Wizard wants to remind everyone that:: "...beginnings are scary, endings are usually sad, but it's the middle that counts the most. Try to remember that when you find yourself at a new beginning, just give hope a chance to float up. And it will, too... "

With time, hair will grow over the eye opening and he will be even cutier than he is now.

ABSOLUTELY no small children or large dogs. Wizard would be fine with another older, quiet dog OR just by himself! A small fenced yard would be best, but you would need to watch this tiny Poodle!

Wizard was born 11-05-2005. Thank you to everyone who sent him gifts of blankets, toys and sweaters!

His $250.00 adoption fee (plus Minnesota State Sales Tax) will help pay for just some of his Vet expenses. Also included is his kennel, a new blanket, a doggie bed, dog food, leash, collar, harness, various toys, treats, a winter coat and lots of good information to help your adoption start off on the right paw forward.

You really do not want to know how expensive all his Veterinarian work was, but I believe this tiny toy Poodle is worth our time and support.

Special THANK YOU to everyone for your donations and prayers.

Please e-mail us for his "Application For Adoption" or if you have any questions.
