My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sterling: 8 Year Old Chocolate / Silver Lab Neutered 80 Pounds

Sweet Sterling was found tied to a pole in the local grocery store parking lot with a sign that read – “Can you give me a new home? My family lost their home and can’t keep me any longer!” Animal control picked up Sterling and took him to the Ukiah shelter and the person called Lab Rescue to ask us to take him into our program. They were full and knew he deserved to get out and find a new home before his time was up. We met Sterling and fell in love with him as he is a very easy boy! We now have him in a foster home and this is what the foster has to say about him!

Foster Notes:

Sterling is everyone’s dream dog. He’s calm and quiet in the house, enjoys his walks, and loves to play, run and jump around our backyard. (He loves to play with his ball!) On walks he does not want to chase the cats we run into, in fact he ignores them. When we encounter dogs that are not that nice he decides to ignore them to! He’s appropriately friendly with other dogs we decide to meet. Sterling loves to snuggle in for hugs and pets and is friendly with everyone we meet! He knows some basic commands and walks well on a leash. He will do well in any family large or small. He does not try to get out of our yard and is content to hang out if need be. Sterling does not chew on anything if left alone – only his toys. He is in a home with a female Lab foster sister and he gets along very well with her. He loves to sleep in the foster's bedroom on a dog bed. He appears to be crate trained – he will slip in and out of an open crate to sleep. Sterling prefers to be with people than other dogs and would make a great companion who is around most of the time and wants a sweet boy to hang out with or one that will curl up at your feet.

Lab Rescue got Sterling his shots, neutered, microchipped, heart worm tested – negative, dental and a full senior screen and everything came back as a very healthy dog. He does have some hair loss and we think it could be poor food and some fleas. Sterling is located in Santa Rosa.

If you have the time for this sweet boy and want him to be a part of your family, please contact Liz at 415-613-6374 or email liz@jobshopsf.com.

(Please keep in mind we are all volunteers, most of us work full time and we all have personal lives. I do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient and I will be back in touch with you. When the dogs are in foster homes then it may take longer as we need to touch base with the fosters for updates on the dogs. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week and we do not have a facility that we keep the dogs housed in. They are scattered all over the Bay Area.)
