My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Elliott came to us from a private home where he was much loved by his family. Unfortunately through no fault of his own Elliott is needing to find a new forever home. This sweet boy will make a wonderful family companion. He is a quiet, relaxed and eager to please young boy who would love to have some children to play with and a back yard to romp around in. Elliott is currently 2 years old and weighs approximately 60 lbs.

Here is what his foster family had to say:

Elliott is such a sweet soul, with beautiful soft fur! He loves to be with his people, have his chest rubbed and laze about for the day. He gets excited whenever we start to play with him and when we come home but, he calms down quickly and settles in to relax. Elliott seems very healthy. His coat is so soft. He could stand to gain a few pounds but, he is energetic and has lots of good energy. Elliott has a moderate to low energy level. He will get excited and play when we want him to but he rests or plays quietly for most of the day.

Elliott came from a house with children and has been very gentle with everyone we have met, kids and dogs included. In the beginning Elliott showed some shyness at first but has since completely stopped showing any shyness towards anyone. Elliott is playful and does not understand that the cats are not interested. He will make playful noises at them and follow them if they run but he has been nothing but gentle when he is close to them. He is still a bit unsure of other dogs, especially when they are the same size or larger but only shows a bit of caution around them.

Elliott will whine a bit when we first leave but he has been doing it less and less and fr less time each time. Our neighbours don't even hear him anymore. Elliott loves his toys! He will gather them all to his mat and then choose one thing to give his attention to. Some days it is his tennis ball, other days it will be his marrow bone and sometimes it's his Kong. He can amuse himself for hours chewing or just moving his toys around the house. Elliott is very quiet other than the occasional whining.

Elliott is very well behaved and has learned the routine in our home very quickly. He will sniff at everything he can but has never tried to steal anything off the counter or tables. He has never chewed anything other than his toys. He is just an all around good dog. His only unfavorable behaviour is that he jumps up but we are working on that.

Elliott knows his basic obedience such as sit, lie down, paw, other paw, wait (on street corners and in and out of the elevator), off, leave it and go to bed. He is completely house trained and has never had an accident in the house. He is very good at telling us when he needs to go out. He is crate trained. We just get a treat and tell him "go to bed" he will walk in nicely, take his treat and lay down. We have worked very hard at this, when he came to us he would whine for a long time after we put him to bed and struggle to go in but now he goes in quietly and stays quiet for the night.

Elliott is leash trained. He will pull a bit if he is excited or if there is a lot of noise around him. If we are going to be near a lot of traffic or we are going on a long walk to a specific destination I will use his Halti to keep him paying attention to me. Otherwise he is well enough behaved that he does not need the Halti.

Elliott just loves to be loved, and deserves it completely. He would probably love to have children around to play with and love. He is a very well behaved dog and would fit into most average families. He doesn't need hours of exercise and can amuse himself if left alone. He is doing very well in our apartment although a yard would be nice for him. He needs a family that will be consistent with his training and use lots of positive reinforcement. And, love him lots!

If you would like to make Elliott a part of your family, please submit an application for consideration.
