Due to age, health, or behavioral issues, WRS considers this dog to be a long term foster dog. Currently living in a loving foster home, WRS is still committed to providing care for as long as is needed.
Dixie is now 10 years old and is doing well in her foster home. She has convinced her foster mom that she does not need to be crated!
What a difference a few weeks makes! Dixie is doing wonderfully in her new foster home and showing no signs of separation anxiety or any other destructive behaviors. Dixie is getting along wonderfully with the other dogs in her foster home, is a terrific car rider, a great leash walker, and has tremendous recall. She's completely housebroken and really wants to please her person. However, she is NOT cat friendly. We're so excited to see Dixie thriving and loving life!
Sweet Dixie is still looking for her forever home. Dixie does wonderfully with children and other dogs; there's not a mean bone in her body. Dixie does have separation anxiety and needs a patient family that understands that and is willing to work with her on that.
Dixie was abandoned at high kill animal control in southern Alabama by her owners for unknown reasons. We do know that Dixie has been spayed and is about 7 years old. We will post more about this sweet girl once she gets settled in and we have a chance to evaluate her.
