Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Aarf dogs can only be adopted in Richmond, Va or the surrounding area.
Greetings to you! We are Honeysuckle and Darcy, and we are brother and sister Bassadors. We have the long, low bodies of our Basset Hound relatives, and the intelligence and sweet personalities of our Labrador relatives. Honeysuckle (that’s me, the blonde girl) has a bit more of a Lab look, while Darcy (I’m the handsome black-and-tan boy) favors the Basset side of the family. We were born in about the middle of 2014 and weigh about 30 pounds each.
Would you like to know about our favorite things? OK, we’ll tell you. We love playing outside, where one of us will find a stick or pinecone and the other will try to steal it. That never gets old. We like to play-fight with each other; it’s great exercise and our foster family thinks it’s pretty funny when we try to sound ferocious. We love playing with the adult dogs we’ve met, and we’ve found that little humans also make great playmates. We like learning, too. Our foster family has taught us words like “outside” and “sit” and we can’t wait to learn more. And most of all, we love to snuggle when it’s time to sleep – either curled up with each other or on our foster mom’s lap.
We’ve been working on our domestic skills so we can fit right into our forever home. We almost always come when called, and when we’re told “No!” we stop what we’re doing (well, most of the time!). We understand that going to the bathroom is an outside thing and are good (although not yet perfect) about that. And while our foster family is away at work, we spend the day relaxing in our crate, with no fuss and just one mid-day break. And we have learned that toilet paper on a roll is not a toy!
We’re really looking forward to finding our forever homes – and, because we are such a big part of each others’ lives, the real dream come true would be to find a permanent home together. We know the AARF people are hoping for that, too, and that they will pay extra-close attention to any applications they might get to adopt us as a pair.
Thanks for taking the time to read about us!
