My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Cookie is a special little girl that needs someone that will be willing to help her grow into a capable companion. She has bonded with and adores her foster family. She loves giving and receiving affection and is very eager and willing to please. She is very well behaved for her young age. She is very loyal and would never leave your side once you make her yours. Cookie is approximately a year old and currently weighs 20 lbs.

Here is what her foster family had to say:

Cookie is a sweet little girl that just loves to cuddle. She is happy being wherever you are and is not demanding of your attention. She loves going for walks but is just as happy hanging around the house and playing near you with her toys. She loves giving kisses and is very responsive to commands. She bonds quickly and is a very loyal and loving pet.

Cookie was a very scared little girl when she first came into our home. She quickly bonded with us and has proved herself to be a very sweet little girl that just loves to be cuddled. When strangers come into the home she is still a little shy until she gets to know them but when she does warm up to them, she is friendly and affectionate. Cookie looks much younger than 2 years but she acts older as she is very well behaved in the home. She is a wonderful companion. She does not demand your constant attention but is very pleased whenever you give her attention. She does like to play with toys occasionally and overall has a moderate energy level. She would probably do best in a home with adults and older children (10 and over).

Cookie was not very good with dogs and when we are out on walks she will often bark at any dog that comes too close to us. Sometimes she would even bark at people walking past with fur on their coats! When we would tell her no however, she stops straight away. I believe she was probably never socialized with other dogs so whoever adopts her should be prepared to work on that. She is really just scared and so another dog in the home might get her over this as well. Cookie shows fear towards subway trains, but she likes watching cars. She is really just learning about life in the big city so any loud noises make her a little jumpy at this point. With more walks and socialization this should be overcome. She is very curious and likes to sniff and check out all the new things she sees.

With us, you couldn't find a sweeter, more loving and obedient little dog. She is very calm, quiet and well behaved in the home. She knows all of her basic commands such as "sit", "stay", "come", "out", etc. She is fully house trained and is really good about letting you know she has to go out. She is leash trained and walks nicely on leash. She is crate trained and is being crated at night and when we are out during the day. In her new home she would probably not need to be crated as she doesn't get into anything she shouldn't. She loves going for car rides and is good even on long trips. She would never run away from her people and would stay by your side at all times outside the home.

I believe that Cookie would be an excellent single's companion but I also believe that she could handle a busy family as well as she doesn't need constant attention and can go off and amuse herself. It might be best at the moment for her to be with older children only as she may be scared of the fast movements and loudness of younger children. She would be great with a retired couple and visiting grandchildren. Cookie is a really sweet little girl and just needs someone that is willing to be patient with her, to allow her to trust you and know that she can look to you as her loyal companion. She will give you so much love and appreciation if you just give her an opportunity to get to know you.

If you think Cookie would be a good choice for your situation, please submit an application for consideration.
