DOUG's Story...
Hiiii I'm Doug! The 3 year old Chesapeake Bay Retriever. I'm pretty popular around here at the Pixie Project. People love to take me on long walks because I'm so great to be around. An absolute gentleman 90% of the time (unless your a cat, I'm never a gentleman to them), but I'll admit it, sometimes I get carried away with exuberance and need someone to help me stay chill. An experienced retriever home is best for me! I'm still a puppy at heart so training classes would be awesome and my ideal home is with adults or older children. I'd feel bad if I knocked the little ones over with my tail! I've got a lot of energy and I love to play! Take me to the park or on a hike and I'm your friend forever. Fill out an application at Pixieproject.org to catch me under the mistletoe. I'm neutered and vaccinated. Adoption fee $250.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

DOUG, a Portland Chesapeake Bay Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chesapeake Bay Retriever for sale in Portland, or seeking a Chesapeake Bay Retriever dog from a breeder in Portland.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Portland already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Portland breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chesapeake Bay Retriever breeders who help with Chesapeake Bay Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Portland paves the way for another one to be saved.
