Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet DARLING DEEDEE:
Thank you Oregon Dachshund Rescue, Inc. for saving me...a small yellow, 3 year old, 9.7 lbs Dachshund and for giving me a name..DEEDEE...Now I have all this space at the rescue to run around and play in, which is a LOT different than the airline pet carrier I have lived in all my life. I've been to the veterinarian, had all my shots and been spayed and even have been making new friends at the rescue. I know that I don't have to be scared anymore and I am really excited to meet my new forever family that you're helping me to find. Thank you again! Love, DeeDee
NOTE FROM ODR, INC.:
Our Darling DeeDee was surrendered to the humane society and was going to be put down. She needs a doxie savvy home and to be the only fur baby, though she could possibly be placed with a well-mannered, neutered male doxie. DEEDEE has had a tough life so far. She has lived her entire three years in an airline pet carrier and only let out to go potty. She has not been socialized and is just now learning English. DEEDEE has much potential and is very smart. In the right home, she will thrive and bring great joy to your world. In the week that she has been at the rescue, she has allowed one of our volunteers to touch her, she is walking on a leash and wagging her tail.
OUR CRITERIA (aka The Fine Print):
Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 10 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer non smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc) Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember, these are rescues; many were surrendered because of these issues.
WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN WITH YOUR LITTLE RESCUE:
All our dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Pyrantyl, nails trimmed, and dental when needed. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $395, sorry no exceptions, as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.
Can you give darling DEEDEE a happy, carefree life that she deserves? If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.odr-inc.org and email it to: jrangan@comcast.net. The adoption committee will attempt to be in touch with you within 48 -72 hours. Please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.
