Fergus - Jill's Story...
Fergus was born on 11/14/14 to Fanny, a beautiful red coated Feist – a breed used for hunting squirrels. He is the biggest in his litter of 7 puppies; we believe he is a brother from a different father. His breed mix would just be a guess, but we suspect some Shepherd is in the mix. He is going to be a fluffy coated boy, perhaps up to 45 or 50 lbs. Fergus is a sweet and gentle boy who plays hard and cuddles well. He loves people and responds quickly to any offer to be picked up, or carried. He is confident, and a little protective of the smaller puppies. If this sweetie sounds like a good match for you, please ask about him today!

****His adoption fee is $350.****

The Animal Rescue Project (www.animalrescueproject.org) is committed to the best possible veterinary care for the pets it rescues and it is looking for adopters who will be similarly committed.

All dogs and puppies are given a general check-up when they enter our program. They receive medication to remove any intestinal parasites (worms), fleas, and ticks they may have. Dogs greater than six months of age are checked for heartworm. If heartworm positive, the Animal Rescue Project treats the disease. Dogs and pups receive all age-appropriate vaccinations for distemper, and dogs greater than four months of age are also vaccinated for rabies, in compliance with State of Michigan laws.

Most dogs and older puppies are spayed or neutered before adoption. In the case of puppies not old enough to be safely sterilized, a $25 deposit is required at the time of adoption and is refunded to the adopter with proof of sterilization.

The Animal Rescue Project requires every adopter to establish an active relationship with a veterinarian no later than 10 days after adoption. Adopters will receive a plan for routine veterinary care at the time of adoption and are expected to work with their vet to complete the plan.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Fergus - Jill, a Kalamazoo Shepherd (Unknown Type) puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shepherd (Unknown Type) for sale in Kalamazoo, or seeking a Shepherd (Unknown Type) puppy from a breeder in Kalamazoo.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Kalamazoo already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Kalamazoo breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shepherd (Unknown Type) breeders who help with Shepherd (Unknown Type) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Kalamazoo paves the way for another one to be saved.
