Here's what the humans have to say about me:
apply at
www.sadt.info
approved adopter picks up either in Bay area or can be transported to SAC for a super duper matching home maybe to Redding
Delilah is a 2.5 year old delightful female black Lab mix. She's a very pretty girl and weighing in at about 90 lbs (she could slim down a little with more regular exercise) to 85 pounds ideal.
Delilah is a happy, affectionate dog, great companion who does well with kids and adults alike
She loves going for a walk but she's fairly low-energy, just requiring some regular exercise like daily walks. and lots of one on one
Delilah is currently in a temporary foster home and this is what her foster says about her:
Delilah is a sweet and loving dog that does best having people around her most of the time, as she really likes having constant company. We think she would need a home with either someone who is mostly home through the day or can take her most places with them. She also seems to do best in a low stress environment so looking for a calm quiet family
that will fall in love with this big beauty
her pics don't do her justice
Her temporary foster home is a multi-generational family, so there is always lots of people around. She is doing well in that environment and enjoys being with people of all ages. She is also doing fine with the foster's dogs, which are medium and large size dogs. She's best without cats, small critters and no small dogs to live with
Delilah is not a high energy dog, but would enjoy some regular outdoor exercise (ie. casual walks, hikes, or maybe swims etc), especially for her "mental health" and general well-being. She will need someone who is willing to spend time working on her basic training which she will love to do specially for yummy treats
She does fairly well walking on a leash - she has been a bit of a "puller" but is doing better with that now a no pull harness will remedy that quickly
If you're looking for a devoted companion to have by your side day and night
then Delilah is your girl! She's so full of love - she will be an amazing friend for life!

ADDITIONAL BACKGROUND MEDICAL INFORMATION:
Delilah requires a low stress environment with basically constant human company.
She has gone through many changes and new situations in her past and has developed anxiety-related seizures which once settled over time may resolve themselves
She is currently on medication (phenobarbital, 1 pill per day)**, which seems to keep her stable and seizure free for several weeks at a time. However, if there are sudden changes in her environment or stressful incidents, then it can bring on a seizure.
A higher dose of phenobarbital / 1 pill 2x per day was tried but causes too much restlessness/unsettled behavior etc.)
Delilah has had a medical work-up (including blood work etc) and is in overall good health, and there is no indication of any medical issues contributing to the seizures.
Her medical records from her previous vet can be provided.
She will need an adopter who is willing to deal with her medical condition and provide a stable, stress-free environment with someone home with her most of the time.
