My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

"FIONA" is now available for adoption and we are accepting applications from families who live within a 1 days (round trip) drive from Minnesota.

This is a big (50 pounds), beautiful, brown, spayed STANDARD POODLE who is just 2 years old (02/19/2012).

She had been deeply loved and well cared for by her family who sadly made the painful decision to let her go. Special thank you to her mom and dad for asking us (instead of using "Craigslist") to help find their beloved Fiona a "forever more" family.

Fiona is a Standard Poodle who LOVES to run and play! She enjoys meeting people and will stand up on her rear legs to do the Poodle dance of excitement.

She is a big girl who, like most Standard Poodles, is a good example of the breeds hunting quality so have have found that she does NOT get along with cats, smaller dogs and some larger dogs. While she tolerates our smaller Poodles, I do not trust her. It is best that she be placed in a home without smaller dogs or any cats.

We did have Fiona with us at our family Christmas party this week-end and clearly saw that she preferred being with people and NOT the other dogs.

She considers herself a family member and is not looking for a dog playmate. Preference will have to be giving to a family with no other dogs or with another soft, gentle, older dog who is willing to accept her.

As pictured on our web site, we know she LOVES men, women as well as children.

The family who surrendered her to us has asked that that Fiona be adopted by a family with a fenced yard, (we will NOT accept invisible fencing) so we are looking to honor that request.

Like all young Standard Poodles, she loves to run which is called "Poodle Zoomies"!

As pictured, Fiona greatly enjoys going for long walks (but no 10 mile marathons!) with my husband. Just grab a leash, your coat or the front door knob and watch her come a running!

A car ride? You bet cha! She will quietly sit in the back seat and watch the world go by!

Fiona had slept in bed with her previous family and moved into bed with Mike and I. This is not something I like doing, but Fiona has quickly moved into our hearts, so it was hard for us to say "No".

We are not going require "sleeping in bed" for the new family, but you will need to know how to handle her when she wants to move into your bed.

Fiona’s Vet visit went good. Her teeth cleaned up nicely, but my Vet found that her right ear has an infection. Instead of doing daily drops, (which becomes messy) we had the Vet implant a new medication right into the ear cannel.

This medication is time released and is highly effective. Another re-check needs to be done in January. You will have the option of brining her back to our Vet (we will pay for that Vet visit) or using your Vet (you will pay for that Vet visit).

We have also switched her to a high quality, grain free dog food, that she’s not happy about. Not to worry as she is a "grazer". Eventually she eats what is set out. A quality dog food (kibble) will help prevent future ear problems.

Please be aware that it took 1 week for Fiona to settle into our home as she was very shy and scared at first. After that, she bloomed and grew into a sociable butterfly full of life, love and happiness. She has since gone with me to various Businesses and Church events to socialize with people while I delivered Christmas goodies and treats.

I have to admit that Fiona is one of the most perfectly wonderful, quality Standard Poodle with personality, disposition and intelligence that I have met.

Fiona has had no "accidents" and has been a perfect lady in our home. She knows various commands, is very loving, gentle and "soft".

Pictured on our web site, you can see that Fiona has quickly made our living room couch ("couch potato") her favorite spot, so you must be willing to accept her on your furniture.

Her $550.00 adoption fee (INCLUDES the Mn. sales tax) will also include all her Vet records, a big soft bed, leash, collar, bags of dog food (Canidae dog food) , various toys, treats, goodies and lots of information to help your adoption start on the right foot forward.

Fiona is spayed, teeth have been cleaned, all shots are up to date, she has been heart worm tested negative, placed on a preventative, wormed, Home Again micro-chipped and registered.

A very rare opportunity for the right family and I guarantee you that this girl will fill your empty arms with love.

Please e-mail us for her "Application For Adoption" . Visit our web site for more pictures: www.picketspoodles.com
