My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET HOLLY, our Christmas miracle -

Miracles happen all the time...we just have to be willing to see them and open our hearts to them. We'd like you to meet our Christmas 2014 miracle...Holly. Holly was abandoned by her previous owners after having been used as a breeder. She was left outside with nothing but a plastic crate after they had moved (not even blankets). Fortunately, a neighbor contacted Oregon Dachshund Rescue, Inc. and volunteers were able to rally and take her into care. HOLLY is approximately 5 years old, is partially blind in one eye and has some hearing loss, though we're not sure how much yet. One of her back legs is deformed and she has some hair loss on her ears. Now for the wonderful part of our miracle thus far...despite all of her hardships and loss, HOLLY is very sweet, though a little timid and guarded. We know that with patience, gentleness, love and a doxie health conscious family, she will thrive and bring all the joy your home could ever hope for! Is your family ready to start 2015 with a Christmas miracle?

OUR CRITERIA (aka The Fine Print):

Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 10 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer non smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc) Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember, these are rescues; many were surrendered because of these issues.

WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN WITH YOUR LITTLE RESCUE:

All our dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Pyrantyl, nails trimmed, and dental when needed. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $395, sorry no exceptions, as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.

Can you give HOLLY a happy, carefree life that she deserves? If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.odr-inc.org and email it to: jrangan@comcast.net. The adoption committee will attempt to be in touch with you within 48 -72 hours. Please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.
