Here's what the humans have to say about me:
"Snowball" is a 2-yo neutered male White GSD who is very friendly and mild-mannered. Snowball loves people and gets along well with other dogs. We don't know how Snowball does w/ cats, so for for now I will only consider a home w/out cats for him. Snowball weighed 62 lbs at the time of this posting.
Snowball is very well behaved overall. He obeys the "sit" command, but doesn't know many other commands. He doesn't jump on people when first meeting them and is very polite with food. He will roll on his back when he doesn't want to obey a command, but then gets right back up. He loves to run. Snowball appears to have been treated well--he's not afraid of new situations and doesn't duck when reached for. He likes going for car rides.
Snowball's caretaker has been keeping him outside for the most part, due to a full house of dogs. So, we can't say for sure whether or not Snowball is housetrained, but most likely he is. He is very quick to respond to a "no" command when doing something inappropriate, such as putting his paws on the counter. Snowball's caretaker (who is a certified trainer) states that Snowball is very eager to please so will be easy to train. She thinks he has the right temperament to be a therapy dog.
An independent rescuer pulled Snowball from the Turlock animal shelter in late 2014. Snowball was subsequently adopted to a couple in a retirement community with an unfenced yard. They were leaving Snowball inside their house when they were gone, but apparently that wasn't working out so they started to let Snowball run loose when they were gone! Ultimately, Snowball came back to the rescuer. Then, in late Dec 2014, a rescue colleague of his in Chico took Snowball in.
GSRSV is placing Snowball as a "Program Dog." This means that GSRSV is placing Snowball through its adoption program while his guardian continues to care for him. Snowball is located in Chico. His adoption fee is $250.
