My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Annie is a perfect little companion. She loves the outdoors and looks forward to her walks each day. Inside the home she is very quiet and although she is always somewhere close by she is never demanding of your attention. She is perfectly behaved in the home and responds immediately to commands. Really this little dog could fit into just about any situation other than she has one fault which is that she can't be left totally on her own or she will fret and bark. As long as there is another dog in the home however, she is perfectly fine. Other than that one thing, she is a perfect companion. She is also exceptionally good with cats and fine with other calm dogs. Annie is just over 4 years old and weighs approximately 10 lbs.

Here is what her foster family had to say:

Annie has not been with us for that long however in that short time she has shown herself to be a perfect little lady. She acts like a little person on her best behaviour. She is not demanding and can amuse herself when you are busy but if invited she would love to sit in your lap. She is exceptionally good with our cats, probably the best we have ever seen and pays them no mind whatsoever even when they are climbing over us when she is in our lap. If you don't invite her up, she will sit or lie quietly near by or play with a toy.

Annie is a very intelligent dog. She is also very food motivated. This makes for a good combination for training and I believe you could teach this little girl anything. She is very responsive to commands and reacts instantly to whatever you ask of her. She is clean and quiet in the home and has never had an accident. She is good about asking to go out by just coming and staring at you. She loves to go for walks and brightens up the moment she sees you pick up her leash. She also loves spending time in the yard. She will never jump into your lap without an invitation but immediately responds if invited.

Annie has a moderate energy level, is very healthy and is non shedding making her a good choice for allergy sufferers as she is hypoallergenic. She has been social and friendly with everyone we have met and doesn't have an aggressive bone in her body. We have not had her around young children however and given her calm demeanor she would be best suited to adults of older children. She is excellent with both dogs and cats however is not good with overly rambunctious dogs or puppies.

We were told that Annie came from a neglectful background where she had to amuse herself as she was left for entire weekends on her own in an empty house. She was rescued by a loving couple but unfortunately they work full time and have no other pets. Due to her background, Annie can get quite upset (barking) when left totally on her own. The good thing in this however is that it doesn't need to be a person with her but can be another dog. As long as she is not totally alone she is fine. Even when she first came to us she cried the first day for her people but by that night she was fine left with the other dogs in the home and was quiet the entire night. The next day we went out and I waited to hear how she would be. She barked a couple of times and then settled down. She was quiet and looking quite relaxed when we arrived home hours later. So, if you are a person that lives in a house and spends a lot of time at home or if you have another calm dog in the home she can be left with, she would be fine. She doesn't seem to have any fear of anything however I would describe her as slightly timid but not a nervous dog. In the home she is very quiet and will only bark when there is good reason other than as mentioned above. She is definitely not a yappy dog.

Her behaviour in the home is impeccable and there is nothing she does that is a bother to anyone. She is very quiet and well behaved, has never had an accident, she eats well and sleeps through the night with no issues. She is currently crated at night next to our dogs who also sleep crated and there are no issues. She is really a perfect little companion. When you are busy with other things, she is quite content to just be wherever you are. When you would like to play with her, she is ready for that and loves to play toss with a squeaky toy. She does like to play with toys on her own at times as well.

Annie would be fine with older children and I feel would do best in a quiet, relaxed home for the most part. I believe, that given time you could teach this dog anything. She is very nimble on her feet, is very intelligent, and is very food motivated. She is also very obedient and well mannered. Basically she is the perfect little dog for someone that is looking for a small companion. She would actually be wonderful for a young person that wanted a dog to trick train or do obedience classes with as she listens extremely well and responds to commands immediately.

If you think Annie would be a good fit for your situation, please submit an application for consideration.
