My name is Peaches. I am a very sweet 7 year old blonde cocker girl and I need your help to find a loving home and someone to take care of me just as I am. I was turned into a NC shelter along with 15 other cockers by a breeder who didn't want us anymore. A rescue organization was contacted and took all of the healthy cockers. They left me behind because I tested heartworm positive and I have extensive issues with mammary tumors that needed to be taken care of for health reasons. CCR was contacted and brought me to the rescue.
I am a real sweetheart. My needs were breeder neglected after having several litters. This rescue took me in because they care and I am such a nice cocker girl. My vet visit revealed that I have mammary cancer so extensive that nothing can be done to make it better. Surgery to rid the cancer is not an option at all. The nicest thing that these rescue folks can do for me is to keep me comfortable, so I have now been spayed and the two monster areas of mammary glands have been removed. Now I am recovering and I would like to find a loving home with someone who will take care of me as I am and let me live my life for however long I have left. Because I have these mammary cancer issues and heartworms too, the rescue has done everything medically possible for me. Putting me through heartworm treatment won't extend my life. Since my needs are great and someone must financially be able to care for me as I am, my adoption fee is $100. The adopter must be willing to accept and provide pain medicines to keep me comfortable as I need it.
After having the two big mammary issues removed to keep me comfortable, the vet cannot remove the rest of the growths because they have spread so much. I could still live a few more months or maybe even a year or more, hard to tell. I am only 7 years old..... Please help CCR to make a loving home possible for me. I need love, attention and a little TLC to help me be happy that someone cares. Having someone to love me might just help me to live a longer, better rest of my life.
