Meet Scamper! He is an 8 year old long haired Dachshund. Sadly this adorable little man lost his human mom who passed away recently. He is unable to stay in his current home because he and the big dogs aren't getting along. He visited a family with some smaller dogs and cats and did well, however. He also visited a family with multiple cats and he had no interest.
After fund raising we were able to get Scamper some much-needed vet care, including vaccine updates, neuter, and dental procedures. Scamper is such a fun little sweetie who will make someone a very loyal and loving companion. With proper introductions we feel he will be fine in a home with cats & most dogs, although he appears to be most comfortable with dogs his size or smaller. He should also be fine with respectful older children. In a former home Scamper wasn’t treated so well and can be nippy in his behavior if strangers approach him quickly, so we would not endorse him going to a home with small children. Scamper does not like to be picked up, especially unexpectedly, so definitely needs TLC and patience so he can learn to trust again.

Please note: We do not have a physical location, but we are supported by a network of wonderful foster homes that are spread throughout New England. A dog will need to be visited by a prospective adopter in the foster home where they are feeling safe and comfortable.
