Keegan is a two-year-old, 8 lb. Chihuahua or Chihuahua mix (possibly mixed with Rat Terrier) rescued from the Devore Animal Shelter. He is an adorable and super cute dog who looks like chocolate and peanut butter and is cute enough to eat; he’s just scrumptious, like a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup! Keegan also has a cute personality to match! He is a happy and loving pup that instantly goes up to all humans and dogs we meet on walks and visits to the dog park. He is gentle and hardly makes a peep, but he can also run and play with bigger dogs and does not fear them as long as they are nice to him. Keegan just wants someone to hang around with at home, either human, or another dog, who can be his best pal and friend.
Keegan is not a huge fan of playing with toys, but seems more interested in being interactive with other dogs, or humans, yet does not come off as a super “needy” dog either, requiring constant attention. He has a nice, balanced energy and does not require a ton of activity. He has played well with other dogs at the park and is very good at greeting all the neighbor dogs on walks. At home, once he is done shaking his curly-Q pig tail with excitement at your arrival, he mainly just wants to curl up in your presence. He is happy cuddling on a pillow or blanket and staying out of the way while you cook dinner or work at the computer; he just wants to be around you. And don’t worry about him being too in love with his foster mom. He was just as in love with his rescue mom, but he easily adjusted when his new foster mommy gave him a bowl of food. It will only take Keegan a short time to get used to a new environment, as long as you love and feed him!
Keegan is a well-behaved dog who likes to please his human. He rides well in the car and is also crate-trained and potty-trained (though potty reinforcement is needed in any new environment). He has learned the doggie door. He is neutered, fully vaccinated, and micro-chipped. The home we seek for Keegan is one where there is another dog in the home for Keegan to hang out with when folks are away from home, or, a home where the humans are not gone from home long.
