My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Requirements: FENCED IN YARD (Physical) and PATIENCE :-)
Local Adoption Only: 1.5 hours from Beachwood, OH

Meet Bellatrix!!! A beautiful, sweet puppy who is looking for her furever lap to sit and and her furever human family to snuggle with!

Bellatrix was 8-10 weeks old on 5/31, when she entered rescue so her approximate birthday is determined to be around April 1st, 2014. She weighs about 20 lbs now and should not be growing any larger. We guess her to be a beagle, jack russell terrier mix. Bella had arrived with her litter mates from southern Ohio. They were an abandoned litter with nowhere to go. They all seem to be in good spirits and quite the charmers. Three of the 5 litter mates stayed in rescue as what we lovingly call 'foster failures' (their foster families kept them). Bella is also a favorite for her foster mom as well. Bellatrix (the whole litter was named after the Harry Potter movies) is the most reserved of them all. She seems to bond very dearly to her immediate caretakers but isn't one of those dogs who runs up to greet new people. In fact, she would rather pretend they don't exist. She does the same with other dogs. She won't play with them until she has made friends first. She has had this reserved personality since she arrived and we know she hasn't suffered any trauma so we can assume it is part of her own personal characteristics.

She is good with other dogs (chases cats) and does love to play when she makes friends. She is still a puppy but she is not hyper by any stretch. She is crate-trained and her foster mom leaves her crated during her absence. By the way, she knows how to jump up onto kitchen counters (her back legs are soo strong!) so any new family would have to be conscious of what they leave up there. She KNOWS she is not supposed to be up there but she's still a baby. She tries to get away with what she can when you turn your back. She is fully aware of where the potty place is (outdoors) but is also puppy pad trained. If there is a pad down, she will go on it. And in her new home, she may think a throw rug is a 'pad' so her new family would want to continue her 'outdoor ONLY' house-training. (Her current foster home is all hardwood floors and tile..no throw rugs). She is a very smart dog and extremely food motivated...so she'll do anything for a treat. Meaning, she is also very easily trainable. If you wanted to do some outdoor fun agility courses, she's made a great partner! And with her aloofness towards people and other dogs, this makes her especially great!!

In regards to her people.... she bonds very strongly! But she is also very sensitive. So.. ONLY positive reinforcement training (which is all we support anyway) and no electric fence! She needs a fenced yard to run, play and potty. She loves to cuddle at anytime and sleep all snuggled in. She is a minimal shedder and has short hair. She loves to be held and massaged! She'll let her family freely handle her but will squirm with strangers. We haven't really had her around children but it should be the same story. She'll bond to her own family and won't care about other children. She will ultimately be your absolute best friend furever!!!!

If you have the right home for Bella, let us know. The first step is an adoption application! ~~~ ~~~~

All Dogs Unlimited Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on all shots, and are given a monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventative. Upon adoption, all vet records and any current medications are provided to the adopter. If you are interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application located at http://www.dogsunlimitedrescue.org/Adopt.html THE SUBMISSION OF YOUR APPLICATION DOES NOT GUARANTEE AN ADOPTION NOR DOES IT OBLIGATE YOU TO ADOPT. Multiple applications are accepted for any available pet and a home is chosen that is the best match between the available pet and the potential furever family. Your application will be processed as quickly as possible and if approved, a home visit would be scheduled. No adoption is final until an Adoption Agreement is presented and agreed to by both parties. Our goal is to find the right match of our dogs to their new family so all involved are furever happy! Questions: email adopt@dogsunlimitedrescue.org And THANK YOU for considering a rescue dog for your family!
