My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

DOB December 24, 2005
Meet Tobey, the nine-year-old purring machine! Tobey loves cuddling and will frequently seek out his foster mom for affection. During the day, he loves to curl up into a ball and sleep on any soft surface. Despite his age, Tobey may as well be a kitten with his love for playing - any and all boxes are his favourite toys, and he frequently chases his own tail.

Tobey is still getting used to the idea of being in a home, so he will frequently follow his foster mom around the house to ensure she isn't leaving him. When she does return from being out, Tobey always greets her at the door and then happily rolls around on the carpet, purring loudly.

When he is feeling particularly affectionate, Tobey will head butt his foster mom for extra attention. Tobey has a bit of a hunter spirit in him and will sometimes use his human as "prey," jumping up and lightly nipping at her, but it is never forceful and he never breaks skin.

Tobey was brought in as a stray to Toronto Animal Services; however, he had a home at some point, as he is declawed. As such, Tobey sometimes feels more threatened than cats with claws. His manner of "defence" is to nip lightly at his human's legs or arm.

Tobey has obviously experienced many ups and down in his short life. Despite feeling mostly at ease in his foster home, there are still moments when he will run away to hide in a corner if he encounters unexpected and abrupt movement from his owner or a visitor. Given his history, as well as the fact that he is declawed, and therefore may nip more frequently than cats with claws, Tobey requires a home with a calm environment, and a patient forever-owner who will understand that his behaviour can sometimes be a bit unexpected.

Tobey is a cat with a distinct and quirky personality. He has a lot of love to give, but in turn requires a lot of patience, understanding and love. He is a sweet soul who has survived a lot and could use a forever home that knows how to deal with cats that sometimes nip.
