My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

STOP! PLEASE READ ALL OF THE INFO BELOW BEFORE INQUIRING ABOUT A DOG FOR ADOPTION

Please meet Sunset! She is a beautiful, 45 pound red English bulldog with white markings. Sunset came into our care after being dropped at a shelter by a former breeder who was going out of business. Before coming to BBR, she knew no other life than living in a cage and having puppies.

After a good vet checkup, being spayed, and having her stenotic nares repaired, Sunset went to her foster home… and her foster parents absolutely adore her!! She is a big sweetheart, and loves to cuddle and soaks up any affection you are willing to give. After getting comfortable with her surroundings she has learned to love the family life. You will find her snuggled up in her doggie bed or in the room you are working in. Sunset does absolutely amazing with children; she loves to lay around with them and is gentle as a butterfly. The children in her foster home are a little older (8 and 11), but we do think she would do well in a home with children 6 years old and above. We would love to see her go to a home with kids!

Sunset does require eye drops for dry eye and facial cleaning twice a day, and she takes them like a trooper! In fact, she has been known to rest her head during the process.

She was kept in a kennel cage the majority of her life, so she is continuing to work very hard on being potty trained. Her foster parents say she is making great progress, but just needs more time to walk around outside than your average trained dog. So her forever family will need to be patient with her during this process.

Currently Sunset shares her foster home with a male English bulldog, and with slow introduction and time to establish boundaries, they are buddies now. If she is adopted into a home where there is already a dog, she will require slow and proper introductions to the dog. Sunset is a strong headed little girl and would do best in a home with a dog that is not high strung and overly aggressive. She will play with another dog - but on her terms. Sunset has yet to meet a cat, so we are unsure how she would do, but again as long as they leave her alone she'd likely leave them alone. Sunset has not shown any object or food aggression, and she will let you take away her toys or her food/water bowls.

Overall, Sunset is a healthy girl who is spayed and up to date on shots. Please consider opening up your heart and giving Sunset her loving furever home!

Adoption donation for Sunset is $500. For more info on Sunset, please visit this link: www.buckeyebulldogrescue.org/sunset.html
