Clarkie is a gentle soul. Despite being gentle, he was found as a stray. How does a dog as sweet as Clarkie still remain so sweet after having to fend for food while finding a warm place to sleep. Clarkie is the type of dog who will always be happy and will lift your spirits on the days you need him to be there for you. He's incredibly loyal and will be your companion forever. Clarkie loves to play with the other dogs in the play area and was recently introduced to toys. When we squeaked the toy, he didn't know what to make of it. He looked like a deer in headlights and cocked his head to one side. Then we let out another squeaked. That motivated him to do a giant pounce. Once the toy was in his mouth, he couldn't have been happier to show it off that it was in fact his toy. He will happily stay by your side to be pet. And we surmise from this behavior he will make a cuddly companion for these cold nights of winter.

Unless otherwise indicated, all Double Dog Rescue dogs have received the following before being available for adoption:
Thorough veterinary examination
All routine annual vaccinations, including Rabies, DHLPP, Bordatella (kkennel cough), Heartworm Test, Fecal Test, Deworming
Spay/Neuter
All dogs are quarantined for two weeks outside of the shelter (puppies four weeks) to ensure they don't break with disease.
VETTING NOTE: Double Dog Rescue completely vets our dogs thoroughly to the best of our knowledge based on communication with our Southern Vets. If anything is brought to our attention, we treat the dog. After adopting the dog, you will be responsible for following up with all vetting going forward.
HEARTWORM NOTE: Dogs who were treated for Heartworm can test positive up to 4-6 months after last treatment. All dogs are immediately put on Heartguard/Ivermectin following the treatment to kill the Heartworm larvae. All dogs should be re-tested after 5-6 months from the last Heartworm treatment.
