My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

I watched Alex grow up in an outside makeshift pen for the 1st year of his life. He received very little attention from his owners. I could hear his cries for attention and could see him wag his little puppy tail asking for someone to come and give him some love. You could tell it was hard on him having to endure the elements out there without his Mother helping him adjust. After awhile you could see his puppy playfulness turn into despair as he realized all he was ever going to get was scraps of old tortillas served to him in old skillets and water in a half washed out paint can. The Adults would not tend to him instead they would send their little 8 yr. old boy to do it. Alex loved to chase them around in the yard. Alex learned to escape his makeshift pen. When he did he would run over to my house. I would take his owners dog food and collars and leashes. They would use them to tie him up so he could not escape. He would chew them up and come to visit me. Soon other neighbors were complaining about him getting loose. So they gave Alex to someone else who lived several blocks away. Alex would get loose from them as well. He was so smart he would find his way back to my house. So I asked them if they wanted the dog. They did not, and I could not let him go to the shelter. Not after watching him grow up and run to me for help. Alex is a very nice dog who gets along very well with other dogs and animals. He did not want in the house at first but to my amazement does very well inside the house and has never had an accident in the house. He has the mild temperament that Golden Retrievers are known for. He is so docile to people and animals he would be great around kids and other pets.
