My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Chopper is a gentle, sweet dog that just loves attention. He is a quiet dog currently living in an apartment with no issues however he would do best in a home with a yard to play in. He would be fine with children of any age but children that were old enough to play with him would be best. He is a very smart dog and knows his basic commands very quickly. He is well behaved and friendly with everyone. He would do well in just about any situation where he was loved and played with. He would be a good choice for a first time dog owner. He is just a very sweet boy that is easy to care for and a delight to have as part of the family. Chopper is approximately 5 - 6 years old and currently weighs 33 lbs.

Here is what his foster family had to say:

Chopper is a very sweet dog. He loves attentions from all family members so he makes sure that he is wagging her tail to everyone whenever they are around. He is very affectionate and loves people. He is also very friendly with other dogs. He has recently been neutered so he is still in a little bit of pain, but he’s been recovering from the surgery pretty well. He has a moderate energy level and loves being taken for walks. Chopper is very friendly to everybody including children. When we take him out on walks, he wants to say hello to everyone we meet. He is also very friendly and sweet to other dogs he meets. We haven't seen him around cats as we don't have any other pets in the home but he has never shown any aggression what so ever.

Chopper is quite well behaved in the home. He likes to mind his own business. He will come around the dinner table when we are eating but he never begs or tries to steal food. He is not destructive in the home or chews anything that doesn’t belong to him. He is also very quiet in the home. He’s pretty smart and learned the basic commands pretty quickly. So now he could knows sit, out, off, go, and stay(sometimes). Chopper is fully house trained. We keep him on a good routine but regardless, he always lets us know when he needs to go out. Chopper is crate trained and is fine left for a normal working day. He is normally calm in the crate and if you give him a towel or a dog bed he will most likely fall asleep. He is always very excited to see us when we return home. He is leash trained and walks well on a leash except for when he sees another dog and then he will pull as he wants to go and say hello. He has never tried to get out of the yard or to bolt out the door but he is a Beagle so it is a good idea to ensure he is always in an enclosed area when off leash so he doesn't follow his nose.

Since Chopper has quite a gentle personality, he will be great with any family who can love him as he is. Also he’s well behaved and obeys commends well, someone who can teach and train him more, then he will be a perfect dog to the family and persons. We would think he can be okay for an apartment or a house. Since we are living in an apartment, it might be convenient for the new owner that if she or he lives in the house since Chopper wants to go bathroom often, but he will be a happy dog wherever he goes. Chopper would be good for a family with children (8 and older) or a family that can give him reasonable attention. He’s pretty independent and quiet, but he loves to being petted and playing together. He might be a good fit for family that even has a busy schedule, but it has routines, so he can expect people can come home in regular time and spend time with him. Since he’s quiet and gentle, retired people would be a great fit as well.

If you think Chopper would be a good fit for your situation, please submit an application for consideration.
