Miss Lolly is a real sweetheart, shy and playful. She’s a 7 month old, chocolate Labrador Retriever/Weimaraner mix. She’s all legs and 40 pounds at this point and we expect her to fill out and reach 50-55 pounds. Her moderate energy level allows her to be sweet and snuggly inside and playful and silly outside.
She has an interesting story that landed her in the local shelter. She belonged to an avid hunter and he intended on taking her as his hunting dog. Well, it turns out that Lolly is not much of a hunter and is terrified of gunshots, so she was surrendered to the shelter for this “flaw”. We were gladly there to pick up the pieces for this beauty and help her along her journey to find her real family where she can be a beloved pet and not a worker.
Lolly gets along really well with other dogs and cats too. She’s a shy girl right now because of all of the bouncing around she’s had to do in her short life, but she’s gaining more confidence everyday right before our eyes. She takes a little extra time to warm up to new people, but she will make the most loyal companion, as long as you aren’t a hunter! She would be okay around children, but because she needs a little more space at first, older kids that can understand that would be best.
Cookies are quite possibly her favorite thing and the way to her heart so far. A treat motivated pup is the easiest to train, so we think she will be a genius in no time at all. She is already kennel trained and about 90% on potty training. This is a new concept to her since we believe she was kept out in a yard and never allowed inside, so 90% in just a few short weeks proves she is a smartie. She still has little nervous accidents if she gets startled or is uncertain about a new situation, but again with stability and affection, she will learn quickly.
Despite her timid personality, she loves to run, play and have fun. She also really enjoys a good snuggle with the ones that she’s learned to trust already. Look at that face! Don’t you want to get to know her, gain her trust and get to snuggle with her? She’s super gentle, sweet and just wants to be your forever buddy. Her ideal family is a calm, structured pack with one or more confident dogs that she can take guidance from and depend on for support and confidence. She’s never going to be the dominant leader in the dog pack, but she’s a constant love.
Miss Lolly is spayed, microchipped, fully vaccinated and healthy. She’s available for adoption locally (Houston) or out of state to a family that has a little extra patience and wants a lifelong love. Lolly’s adoption fee locally is $250 and her out of state adoption fee is $450, which will cover her airline flight, travel kennel, comfy bed and required travel documents.
