Here's what the humans have to say about me:
My name is Coal because I’m solid black and because it sounds cool. I’m a Labrador mix, about 1 ½ years old and 45 pounds. I’m a very new dog to the rescue program and they’ve been feeding me well so I can gain the 10 pounds the vet said I need. I’m a little bit shy at first, but I’m an easy going, nice fella.
I am one of 6 dogs that were rescued by Reggie’s Friends from another rescue that was closing its doors. Well, the last day came and there were lots of us left that were going to be turned into the local shelter and we all knew that our chances there were slim. We wanted to have families and the volunteers at Reggie’s saw something in us that I hope you see too.
I’d been in a foster family with 7 other dogs for a while with the other rescue group, so I’m social with other dogs and people. I wasn’t shy before the big move, but I am just taking a little time to get adjusted after so many changes. Now that I’m with Reggie’s, I get to run and play in the yard with my new (and old) friends. My body is slim and not too muscular yet because I wasn’t getting a lot of exercise before, but I’m still good looking and I’m looking better every day and feeling great! I am so lucky to have had a second chance at rescue and my appreciation is obvious. I hadn’t had any training before I got here, but my new friends have started teaching me. I’m a good boy, a good listener and already tackled sit. I am more than ready to learn more and impress!
My personality is starting to shine more, but I feel like I will be a star once someone shows me the love and affection that I deserve. I’ll be a great family dog! I’ll love to play outside, go on hikes, watch movies on the weekends and maybe I can learn how to swim. I am walking on my leash, but need a little reinforcement on how to walk next to my human. Overall, I’m a great guy and I just need someone that is willing to have a little patience considering my past, teach me and love me. I’ll be your forever companion and follow you to the end of the Earth.
I’ve already been neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped and I’m ready to head home. I’m being fostered in Houston, Texas right now. I’m available for adoption in Houston and also out of state. My local adoption fee is $150 and if adopted outside of Houston, my adoption fee is $450 to cover my airline flight, travel crate, comfy bed and my required travel papers. Please email adoptions@reggiesfriends.org if you have any questions about me or want to bring me home as your new best buddy.
