My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We just recently rescued Rudy from a very scary high-kill shelter...and now he's passed all his vetting and behavioral testing with flying colors and is ready for his transport to Colorado and his forever home. Our adorable little Rudy is just about 9 - 12 months old and approximately 17 lbs....and could not be sweeter. Rudy was described by the shelter as a free spirit (no needy behavior for Rudy) He appears to be a purebred Poodle...but a vet or 2 in Texas felt there could be a bit of Schnauzer in there. Therefore we're calling him a Schnauzer/Poodle mix..or a Schnoodle.
Rudy is the perfect companion for anyone searching for a very active dog who loves to spend his time playing with like-sized dog friends as well as his favorite people... taking a long hike, a run or snowshoeing on beautiful Colorado trails and paths would be the ultimate for this agreeable guy. After Rudy's gotten his physical exercise and mental stimulation for the day, He's ready to hop on the couch to engage in a serious belly rub session.
Rudy is a great size at 17 lbs...perfect for coming along almost anywhere and would love nothing more than a car ride to a dog-friendly location. He would have so much fun..and his joy is infectious. He's also the perfect size to be a lap dog. Once a rescue dog is bonded, they're overjoyed to spend lap time. They come to understand that their family becomes the source of their joy, love and security.
We envision Rudy in a home with dog-savvy retirees who enjoy spending lots of quality time with an entertaining little dog. We feel strongly feel that Rudy's new family must be open to taking this sweet guy to group obedience classes. He's so smart (Poodles often are) and he would derive so much pleasure from pleasing his family and learning the skills to be a very respectful member of the community. Rudy is a very young guy and needs to be guided toward great behavior (as all dogs do). As he learns these skills with the help of his people and in a positive way, Rudy will bond completely and practice great behaviors throughout his life.
Farfel's is searching for a forever home for Rudy where he'll have the company of another young, play-loving dog companion and a fenced yard for his safety. He would be so excited to be able to run freely through the yard in the company of other fun-loving dogs. Rudy is a truly wonderful companion who needs just a few things in his life.... love, initial structure to give him an opportunity to understand what is being asked of him, kind words, petting and a place next to (or on) the bed...this would be a dream come true for this wonderful little guy.
Rudy is a non-shedding dog (and considered to be one of the most hypoallergenic of breeds). He will therefore require great nutrition and periodic grooming to keep his coat healthy, cottony-soft and matt-free.

Rudy is arriving on transport in Boulder on 1/30/15. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If you're interested in this sweet and very fun and entertaining companion, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com.
