My story

Alvin - baby (10 weeks as of Jan. 28) - male - Basset/Lab best guess - black and white short to medium coat

This solid and sturdy little fellow is Alvin. He elicits a chuckle from everyone he meets because, especially in relationship to his brothers, he is such a chunk. His foster mom compares him to a small tank, and his nickname in his foster home is “Baby Huey.”. His size and strength are all the more touching because of his loving and hopeful nature.

Alvin tumbles and wrestles with his litter mates joyfully; everyday is an adventure for Alvin in terms of mastering new ranges of motion that suit his broad-shouldered and low to the ground conformation. His responsiveness to his care providers is profound - he loves to be noticed, cuddled and praised, and he adores treats and rewards. For all his size and strength, he is endearingly trusting and innocent, and he greets humans and other dogs with complete faith - he believes in a world that offers nothing but good things. Alvin has full, soft and open eye contact, and he will bond deeply with his adopters.

Alvin is very proud of his ability to lumber up and down stairs, as well as his ability to greet the vacuum cleaner, and even the tractor, with calm acceptance. Alvin is flourishing in a foster home in which his care providers have taken pains to help introduce him in positive ways to new situations and new people, and we are grateful to them. Alvin will bring trust, love, and willingness to his adoptive home.

Hedgesville Hounds requires a securely fenced yard for puppies, and we are not recommending these puppies for placement in a home with children under the age of 10. The $250 adoption fee will cover Alvin's booster shots, rabies, and his neuter when he is 6 months of age.
