Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Prissy is a beautiful and loving 2yr old white terrier mix who we rescued from an area shelter. She has come along way since the first days she was brought out of the shelter. Because she was a stray we don't know a lot about her history, but at first she was unsure of people and somewhat defensive. Now all of those behaviors are gone and she is a wonderful companion dog. Prissy loves her people/person and is happiest being right next to you being petted or relaxing at the foot of your chair. She gets along with all of the other dogs in her foster home. She tends to be more on the quiet side but gets very excited when her person comes home after being away for any length of time. She is completely house trained and has never had an accident in her foster home since the day she arrived. Prissy will probably need some patience while adjusting to a new home, and new people but once she is comfortable she will be a devoted member of the family.
We adopt dogs from Memphis Animal Shelter when we can. The shelter has an 83% euthanasia rate, one of the highest in the country. Unfortunately, any dog coming from Memphis Animal Shelter, and most other shelters for that matter, will have been in contact with contagious illness. Even though the dogs have been in foster care and appear to be in good health, they may become stressed when changing environments and exhibit signs and symptoms of illness. If you have other pets, they need to be up to date on vaccines before bringing a shelter dog into your home. We will take the adopted animal back, but we are not responsible for your other animal's vet care. We always disclose where the dogs have come from. Please ask for any information about the dogs and exercise due caution if you have immunocompromised animals.
