My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Cookie is a darling dog that is loving, loyal and just a delightful companion. She is well behaved, eager and willing to please. She is a little on the timid side but loves attention and affection and is friendly with everyone. She is wonderful with other pets in the home and never barks. She has only moderate energy and would be fine with respectful children of all ages. She would be a excel at obedience classes as she thrives on the positive reinforcement and the sense of fulfillment when she feels she has done well. Cookie is a gentle, sweet dog. She is approximately 2 - 3 years old and currently weighs 43 lbs.

Here is what her foster family had to say:

Cookie is a loving dog that is patient and polite. She can be a little timid and needs a gentler disposition but it is important to her that you are in charge. Cookie was skin and bone when she arrived but has gained weight nicely and is looking very healthy. She had a bout of Kennel Cough but with TLC she managed very nicely. She as a moderate energy level. She loves to play inside and out but she is partial to her naps. She loves to be brushed and was great at the doggy bath. So any shedding is easily manageable with a little grooming.

She is very sociable with everyone but she is timid so she needs an opportunity to warm to people. She is a little clumsy in her demeanor when she is excited as her tail goes one way, feet another. She is a young adult dog but often acts like a puppy so you would just need to keep a closer eye around little ones. She is a very quiet dog and doesn't bark even when our dogs barks in the backyard. She also has zero aggression and remains submissive even when our dog growls at her. She is actually wonderful with other pets. She has a natural curiosity but is respectful of space.

Cookie is well behaved in the home other than trying to steal our other dog's food and chewing the occasional tissue. She is coming along well with her basic obedience, as she takes direction well and responds immediately. Her recall is very good and she comes when called. Sit and stay are coming along. She is fully house trained. She is crate trained but we rarely put her in the crate. If she needs containment mostly she goes to the back room. She is coming along nicely with her leash training although at this point she does still pull at times. She is not a runner and has never tried to bolt out the door or escape from a yard. She is a bit timid when we first put her in the car but settles pretty quickly and is fine. I think the more she gets used to it, the more she will enjoy it. She is very quiet even when we leave her alone at home. She is just quiet and content. She is startled by loud noises and such but she is getting used to the home environment where many things are still new to her.

Cookie has been an absolute delight to foster. We couldn't have asked for a better first foster experience. Anyone who rescues Cookie would be honored to have her. She will be a faithful and loving companion who has tons of love to give. I think she would do really well in a home where she has a sense of purpose. She needs someone that is willing to continue working with her training and socialization and would be an ideal candidate for obedience classes as she is so willing to please. She isn't a needy dog but she likes that sense of fulfillment and responds well to positive reinforcement and praise. If she is given that I think she will shine with a single adult, family with young kids or a retired couple.

If you think this sweet girl would be a good addition to your family, please submit an application for consideration.
