My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

LUCY IN ALLEN, TEXAS HAS BEEN ADOPTED!

If you would like more information, please contact Connie Lawrence at conniel@andell.com or fill out an adoption application at www.brusselsgriffonrescue.org

Lucy is another one of the Griffs who came from the September 2014 puppy mill raid in the San Antonio area. She and 11 other Griffs were rescued along with 100 other dogs. Kept in horrid conditions, she had lived her entire life (3 years) in a wire cage.

Shortly after Lucy arrived, we discovered she was pregnant. Now that she has finished her motherly duties and her puppies are in their new homes, it’s time for her to have a family of her very own!

Lucy is a typical Griff; she will follow her foster mother everywhere and will climb over the baby gate to get to her. She is affectionate and has a sweet disposition. Like the others from the San Antonio puppy mill, Lucy proceeds with caution; but unlike the others, she has not been uneasy around men.

Lucy is pretty laid back. She enjoys being near you and being petted. At this time she will sit for short periods on your lap – as long as she doesn’t feel confined.

She is doing great with potty training. Her foster mom takes her out on a regular schedule to avoid accidents. This smart girl sleeps through the night, but she will wake you if she needs to go potty.

She is crate-trained, and she sleeps in a doggy bed at night, but we know she would love to snooze in the big bed if you want her to.

She loves to play with toys, and she played with her pups. We think she would enjoy playing with other dogs, but her foster siblings don’t care to play.

After her years of close confinement, getting out and moving around has been a real blessing for this precious girl! She enjoys walking on leash.

Lucy has not been around children, but we think she would be fine with respectful children over 10 years of age. Because she has not been around them, we would not feel comfortable placing her in a home with younger children.

Do you have room in your heart and home for this little girl? The love and attention you give her will definitely be rewarded.

Lucy is spayed, current on vaccines, and is heartworm negative and on preventative. She is three years old and weighs approximately 14 lb.

Lucy is being fostered in Allen, Texas.

Keep in mind that we prefer to place dogs within driving distance of where they are being fostered. If someone from outside the local area is approved for adoption, they must be willing to fly in to get the dog and that can only happen if the dog is stable enough to travel in the cabin with the passenger.
