Oliver - adoption pending's Info...

I am already spayed, housetrained, purebred, in need of an experienced adopter, up to date with shots, not good with kids, good with dogs, and not good with cats.

Oliver - adoption pending's Story...
Oliver is a striking 4 year old male GSP. He loves people and greets everyone who he meets with enthusiasm. He is being fostered with 2 Weimaraners and is doing some serious canine bonding.

Oliver loves to walk, run, and play. He is a bit ball obsessed...okay, he might be very ball obsessed. His basic obedience commands are good. Would be better suited to a home with older kids due to his size and excitement.

For the most part, Oliver's recall is strong. However, if he catches a scent, he may run with it, and not return when he is called. The best way to deal with this is not to let him start to follow a scent. His ball comes in handy for distraction.

Oliver is working on meeting other dogs on leash. He is fine with off leash interactions in open spaces. Oliver barks and/or growls when he is on leash and sees other dogs on leash. His attention can be easily redirected, and we do no believe that this will be a permanent problem.

Oliver is well-behaved indoors and shows no separation anxiety. He needs approximately two hours exercise a day. Oliver is fully house broken and has never had an accident indoors. He is not at all destructive in the house.

Preference will be given to active, breed savvy applicants.

Oliver is a rare find, delightful and loving. We are looking for an applicant who will commit to put the time into training Oliver to be the best he can be. With more training, this dog will be absolutely amazing.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Vancouver already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Vancouver breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even German Shorthaired Pointer breeders who help with German Shorthaired Pointer rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Vancouver paves the way for another one to be saved.
