Here's what the humans have to say about me:
RILEY: 8 year old neutered male chocolate lab, AKC 75 lbs
(Riley is very handsome – not the best picture.)
Riley was surrendered to some friends who help with rescue and they wanted to get him to GGLRR. They asked a couple to foster him for a short period until they could get him into our program. They decided they liked Riley so much they wanted to keep him. (Riley is a real charmer!) The temporary foster has an English bulldog and she is very sweet but very hyper and they soon realized it was not fair for them to keep Riley. The called GGLRR and once we met him we knew he was a dog we could find a home for as he is a very easy going boy!
Riley is a very sweet friendly boy who seems to love everyone and everything. (We currently have him at our boarding facility and they just think he is a dream dog for someone! They meet a lot of dogs and when I called to check on him they said what a nice boy he was. He gets to play with all different dogs. He is clean in his kennel, he is not destructive and he is not a barker. He has perfect manners.) You can touch Riley all over and he does not care – he just wants more. He has a soft mouth, he will bounce when he sees a leash but is very gentle. He knows sit, walks well on a leash with a correction collar, loves to swim, great in the car and is not destructive or loud when left alone. Riley is "great with kids" (a 7-year-old boy & 2 teenagers). He showed no food aggression when they fed him & withheld food from Matilda the bulldog, who circled him several times as he ate. We are not sure about cats but he would be fine in a home with another dog.
We took Riley into the vet and got his ears cleaned up. He has had ear infections in the past and the precious owners were using the wrong medication. He has all his shots, he is heartworm negative, he is neutered and he is microchipped.
He is located in Petaluma. If you are looking for an easy, sweet, new pack member – Riley is your guy, call Rescue Rep Liz 415-613-6374 or email liz@jobshopsf.com.
(Please keep in mind we are all volunteers, most of us work full time and we all have personal lives. I do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient and I will be back in touch with you. When the dogs are in foster homes then it may take longer as we need to touch base with the fosters for updates on the dogs. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week and we do not have a facility that we keep the dogs housed in. They are scattered all over the Bay Area.)
