Spot's Story...

Spot is a a senior lab mix that still thinks he is a puppy. Maybe that's because he missed most of his puppy-hood: This old fellow lived his entire life as a junk yard dog, where we are guessing he failed miserably at his job as he is all sweetness and love. He lost his job as guard dog and was heading for the local pound. A fellow his age would likely have been passed over for puppies and younger dogs so we took him in and he is now living at a the sanctuary, waiting to find his perfect retirement home. That would be a home where he can curl up on a soft and warm bed, get lots of gentle pets from his people and enjoy many years of a quiet and loving life. He is shy at first when meeting new people but warms up quick and LOVES getting pets, going for walks and car rides. If you would like a mellow companion and can give Spot the retirement he deserves, please contact us at info@shadowsfund.org

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Spot, a Lompoc Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Lompoc, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Lompoc.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Lompoc already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Lompoc breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Lompoc paves the way for another one to be saved.
