My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Jax is a SUPER SWEET boxer!!! He is currently about 65 lbs and still needs to gain more. His healthiest weight should be about 70 lbs. He is about 3 years old.

Jax was surrender to a pound in West Virginia. His original owners were from a very bad neighborhood. Based on his severe scarring, we can only figure they tried to fight him. When he wouldn't fight back, he got the worst end of the stick. They could have then also used him as training bait. Not only is he scarred, he was also severely emaciated. He weighed less than 47 pounds; all skin and bones with sores, wounds, and very sad eyes.

But Jax's past is the past. Today, he is a happy, healthy, sweet-natured, quiet boy who just wants a family to let him sleep inside (he currently shares his foster mom's bed) and to love him without physical or emotional harm!

When he's happy, he shakes his whole butt..and he's happy a lot! He was first afraid of all dogs but now he greets them with his wagging butt! He is VERY gentle with the little ones and even plays tug-a-war and lets them win! And the little ones seem to flock to him as well. They know he's a gentle "giant" (to them).

His temperament is amazing. During his transport to our rescue, everyone fell in love with him. He is great with all people and could be a dog you can take anywhere. He does great in the car!

He is a cautious eater as he is learning what different foods are. He's never had treats like apples or bananas or peanut butter, etc. but he's quickly learning that he enjoys them! He is also a slow eater! He does not hog down his food. He takes his sweet time but will finish the whole bowl eventually.

He does not need to be crated and he is house-trained. He wasn't originally but learned very quickly. He knows "sit" and "paw" as well.

If you have a place in your home and heart for this big, lovable guy, let us know!

All Dogs Unlimited Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on all shots, and are given a monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventative. Upon adoption, all vet records and any current medications are provided to the adopter.

If you are interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application located at http://www.dogsunlimitedrescue.org/Adopt.html

THE SUBMISSION OF YOUR APPLICATION DOES NOT GUARANTEE AN ADOPTION NOR DOES IT OBLIGATE YOU TO ADOPT. Multiple applications are accepted for any available pet and a home is chosen that is the best match between the available pet and the potential furever family. Your application will be processed as quickly as possible and if approved, a home visit would be scheduled. No adoption is final until an Adoption Agreement is presented and agreed to by both parties.

Our goal is to find the right match of our dogs to their new family so all involved are furever happy! Questions: email adopt@dogsunlimitedrescue.org

And THANK YOU for considering a rescue dog for your family!
