Peabody's Story...
Peabody is a 3 yr old Terrier Mix who came to ACL as a stray. Peabody was very scared and nervous when he arrived, but he warmed up to staff and volunteers quickly. Peabody is an easy dog - he's housebroken, mellow and laidback with other dogs his size, and he loves his people. He doesn't like the shelter environment and can be barky and nervous, but he's a total dream dog once he's home. His foster mom is in love with him! Because of his size and his terrier nervousness, he'd prefer an adults only home where he can be your constant companion. Peabody loves walks, loves to play with toys, and he settles in nicely when it's time to relax and hang out. He's great!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Peabody, a Oak Park Cairn Terrier/Chihuahua dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Cairn Terrier/Chihuahua for sale in Oak Park, or seeking a Cairn Terrier/Chihuahua dog from a breeder in Oak Park.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Oak Park already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Oak Park breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Cairn Terrier/Chihuahua breeders who help with Cairn Terrier/Chihuahua rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Oak Park paves the way for another one to be saved.
