Weasley is a one-year-old puppy that was rescued, injured, on the side of a rural highway. He was left for dead and all the cars were passing him by. This rescuer also drove by but something told her to go back. Weasley moved his head. He was rushed to the emergency vet in shock and with a large gash on his face. We do not know exactly what happened to Weasley but he is now completely recovered and all that is left is a large but handsome scar on his cheek that you can only see if you know it is there due to his coloring. Weasley was named by hospital staff after Harry Potter’s red-haired best friend named Weasley. He appears to be a pure-bred Rat Terrier. He is a good looking dog, weighs 15 lbs., and has great body conformation and muscle tone. He is in very good health.
Weasley is a shy puppy. This could be his nature, but it can also have something to do with his road accident or past life. He is more comfortable when other dogs are around. For this reason the home we seek for Weasley is one with another welcoming canine friend who can help show him the ropes and teach him more about normal dog ways. He also has a spunky side: He likes to rear up like a horse and dance and prance when he is going to get a treat, a rawhide, or when you come into the room after being gone for a while. He loves to eat and when feeding time or treat time comes he dances for joy. He is also learning that a lap can be a pretty comfy place to be. Weasley is a submissive puppy who has shown zero aggressive tendencies towards humans or other dogs. He is generally very quiet but was alert barking like crazy about a coyote in the nearby area. He has taken shoes but has not destroyed them. He does not dig. He has finally begun to play interactively with two of the other playful dogs in the foster home. Weasley will need a bit of an adjustment to a brand new place, but his confidence is coming out daily. There have been no interests expressed in Weasley and this has actually saddened me as a rescuer. Weasley is a great dog to have around if you are looking for a friend for your already existing dog or dogs. He lives in a foster home with three other dogs and a cat. He has shown interest in the cat, but he does not bother the cat at all.
Weasley is crate-trained and VERY potty-trained. He has not had a single potty accident in the house; however, potty reinforcement is needed in any new environment. He slept quietly in his crate at night, but now sleeps in an open room with other dogs in the foster home. He is fully vetted, neutered, vaccinated, including rabies, dewormed, and also micro-chipped. Though the rescue paid a large sum saving Weasley, this does not change the standard adoption fee.
