Gizmo is an adorable, sweet 11 pound boy. He might be eleven years old, but he has lots of healthy years left to enjoy in his life. He does an energetic happy dance when you get home from work! He will wait hopefully while you are gone and will keep a spot warm for you on the couch in anticipation of your return. Gizmo is very affectionate and loves to be next to his person on the couch – or anywhere! He runs back and forth when you’re ready to relax on the couch and can’t wait to get up and snuggle with you. He has adapted well to his schedule with his foster family and gets so excited for breakfast and dinner. Gizmo is house trained, although he will occasionally mark something new or out of place in the house. He likes order and the things he is accustomed to, and this may be his way of dealing with unknown or unexpected activity or objects. Once he settles in to a home and a routine, this behavior should diminish. It’s also his way of saying that he likes a really tidy, orderly, predictable home!
Gizmo is a quiet, gentle boy who would be happy in a calm home with adults or one with older respectful children. He doesn’t care for a lot of external activity and derives his happiness from just being with his people. Gizmo is good with other small dogs, but likes them as companions and not playmates.
Gizmo has some mild allergies causing his skin to be inflamed, but this is easily managed by being on a special diet. He is otherwise healthy, neutered, current on his vaccinations, and on heartworm preventative. His adoption fee is $120.00 plus $8.73 sales tax for a total of $128.73. His foster mom would like his adopters to live within a reasonable driving distance of the Twin Cities and would also encourage them to attend the Shih Tzu Rescue Reunion held in June every year.
