My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Lenny is about 7 months old puppy German Shepherd Mix. He started his life without humans on the streets of Miami, but that has not affected him much. The only set back is that Lenny needs to build lots of confidence around strangers and meeting new people in his own environment.
Lenny has been in foster home for almost a week now and he has learned hand full of basics cues, he has learned the do's and don'ts indoors. He also mastered leash walking and he just discovered car rides. Lenny is great with other dogs, but he tends to play rough, or bully small breeds, so medium to large dogs are preferable for him. Lenny enjoys company of dogs and it also helps him build confidence in new places. He is a puppy, he is very energetic, playful, but also has a working mentality. He enjoys to be trained and learn new things. Lenny is very outdoorsy and he needs long walks daily to keep his additional energy contained, back yard just won't do for Lenny. If play is all he gets to do, he will be out of control puppy. Lenny has learned routine and structure in his life. He needs healthy balance of play and training. In a foster home, he has been trained with positive reinforcement and force free training.
Lenny takes a little time, when strangers come into his environment, but that is to be expected. He is learning to meet strangers outside too, on his terms, and he has done excellent. Going for a walk with the stranger helps Lenny to bond and he is very curious about people. Lately, he displayed the need for touch, he loves belly rubs, and loves to be petted. He would be great everyday companion. He is very smart, learning very fast, and he loves to work. If you are looking for fitness partner or competition buddy Lenny is your guy. He is still building confidence, but the speed he has moved in a week, we have high hopes for this pup, because he has lots of potential.
His adoption fee is $200. If interested, please fill out an adoption application on www.dbgsdrescue.org
Thank you.
