My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi there! Are you searching for the man of your dreams? My name is Romeo and I might just fill that role!

I am a 2.5 year old handsome Harlequin Great Dane and I am ready to settle down with my furever family.

For two and a half years I lived with a family that I thought was forever! Sadly, my dad became allergic to me and they needed to give me away. They were very sad to see me go but I am so glad that they decided to take me to Forever Friends - now I’m guaranteed a loving home! I do shed A LOT (I think that’s why my dad became allergic), but it’s nothing that a lint roller can’t handle!

I am not QUITE ready to go home with you as I still have a few things to take care of in the medical world. Nothing serious, I’m just in the process of being up to date on my vaccinations. Next, I will be neutered. Then, I’ll be ready for you!

Some people think that taking away my manhood will maybe make me stop jumping on people. I personally think all I need is someone assertive to tell me to stop - it worked for my foster family!

I do need an alpha owner that can remind me that I’m not the boss and won’t be intimidated by my attempts to claim my kingdom.

I am learning very quickly that I am a dog, not a human. That means that I don’t get to sleep in a human bed, sit on a human couch, or give human hugs.

I just learned how to be in a crate and I LOVE it. It’s my very own special place and I LOVE being cozy, wrapped up in blankets in my own little den.

I am very respectful on a leash and with other animals that I meet.

I have only lived with one other pet before, another Great Dane, and we got into a little scuffle over a bone (who wouldn’t?!), and haven’t lived with another pet since.

My foster parents are impressed at how calmly I act around dogs, both male and female, and squirrels that we meet on the street.

Although I have never had a mean thing to say about another animal in neutral territory, I can’t say how I’d feel about sharing my space and humans with another pet. It sure would be nice to have a well-organized introduction to my new canine brothers and/or canine sisters just to make sure that we get along.

Since I like to be the king of my household, there is no guarantee that I'll allow other pets to try to be king of the household as well, but I’ll try my hardest for you!

I LOVE being outside. My foster parents say I am the fastest dog they’ve ever seen (faster than a greyhound!) and sometimes I run into things because I just don't want to stop! When there is a fence keeping me in, I will come as soon as you call me and will fetch a tennis ball quicker than you can imagine, but no fence? I'm outta there! A few times I have run so fast that I have knocked over kids and a few times I've even knocked over adults! But trust me, when we come inside that time is for sleeping, sleeping, and more sleeping. I’d love to lounge with you all day, take calm car rides, and let you laugh at me while I run around in my dreams.

If you have a place for me to sleep, food for me to eat, and have enough conviction to be an alpha dog, we might just be soul mates. Are you my Juliet?
