My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello world! My name is Dash and I’m looking for my forever home. I’m a two years old Dachshund/Rat Terrier mix with a dash of Chihuahua. I weigh about 12 pounds and I’m quiet dashing with my sleek and shiny all over black coat and white chest.

I’m a great all around companion; I love my people and get along great with other dogs. I’m super athletic; I make a great walking, running, hiking and biking partner. My foster mom is training me to run alongside her when she bikes, it’s so fun and I haven’t made her crash yet! I also do long-leash hikes 2-3 times a week, so I know my way around a trail.

I’m very playful and a total toy manic, the squeaker the toy the better! I can entertain myself for hours with a toy and a ball-did I mention I love to fetch? My other hobbies include sunbathing, soliciting belly rubs and napping. Not to brag, but I’ve been told I’m a smarty pants. I taught myself to use a doggie door and doggie stairs in less than 5 minutes and I’m acing learning “Leave It”, “Wait”, “Off”, “No Bark” and walking on leash. I also sleep in a crate at night, so I have some crate training skills. I pick up things quickly and enjoy training.

I was at risk at the shelter, as I’m somewhat “special needs” due to my food sensitives, but I like to think of myself as just special! I’m currently on a turkey-based kibble and pumpkin supplement, which is working great for me and available at pet food stores.

I’m a little nervous of small children; therefore I’d do best in a home with older children or adults only. I’m potty trained so access to a secure outdoor space or yard would be ideal.

A generous donor has covered my adoption fee and my foster mom has provided me with everything I needed (crate, toys, sweater, harness, collar, etc.) so what’s stopping you from contacting the Power of Chi to meet me? I’m an awesome dog waiting for my forever home; please don’t make me wait forever to find it.
