German is a big boy, topping the scales at over 100 lbs, with a lot of love to give. Despite being so large, he's quite the softy and takes a little while to warm up to new people. Because of this timid personality, we would recommend a patient home with no small children and limited foot traffic. German needs a new home by the end of April, when his current owner loses their property. He has lived outside his whole life, and so will need a secure backyard with at least six foot high fencing to help him transition into his new home. He does well with other dogs, and would prefer a female companion or a submissive male companion to pass the time with. Due to a prey drive, he cannot go to a home with small animals like chickens or cats. The other dogs rescued from this property have been doing very well after an initial adjustment period of about two weeks, and their new owners report German's relatives now walk nicely on leash and enjoy sunning themselves on the front porch or sneaking onto the couch for a nap when given the opportunity. We anticipate German will be the same! While we don't know his exact age, he's a mature adult, probably somewhere between 5 and 6, but still very healthy. The other dogs on this property, despite their size, have lived to seventeen!
