My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MASON is a 4 year old neutered chocolate male Lab who weighs 73 pounds. Mason is a sweet chocolate boy. He kept showing up at the shelter because his owner would let him out in the yard without a fence and he would wander off, so the owner signed him over. He is 3 years old (DOB 10/27/11) and he currently weighs 73 lbs but he needs to gain weight so he will be a big boy. He is good with other dogs and he lived with children. He is housebroken, OK on leash and loves to go for rides. He is very affectionate and loves people. He knows some commands but will need exercise and additional training.. Mason is approved for kids ages 7+.

Update (2/19): Mason is feeling better! Being in a kennel was not Mason's friend but he has been relaxing and recuperating in Lynchburg. Mason is very gentle and sweet. He has been eating his special fattening treats and has several meals in his slow feeder bowl throughout the day to help him gain weight. He takes treats with a very soft mouth and knows some basic commands. Mason will probably need to gain close to 20-25 pounds and will probably weigh around 85-90 pounds. His ribs are starting to fill in and his energy level has increased. He and Reese, the resident dog, have started to play. Mason is a total love bug, loves to cuddle, rarely barks, & gets along with the resident dogs. He sleeps all night on a dog bed in the foster's bedroom (even though he would probably prefer to squeeze in the very full bed) all night. He is housebroken and alerts the foster when he needs to go outside. The foster has been limiting Mason's time outside due to the cold weather. He is a joy to be around and will seek out human contact. He especially loves cuddling with the foster's grandson.
