My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MARY is a 5 year old neutered black male Lab who weighs 55 pounds. He is a sweet guy and has the soft ears that beg for petting. He can be a little shy when he first meets people but is quickly won over with a few treats. He is a favorite with the kennel staff. He may do best in a quieter neighborhood as he seems overwhelmed by a lot of commotion outside. : Marty is a handsome gentleman that finds himself in need of a family to call his own! He is sweet and rode well in the car for his transport. Marty is good with other dogs, but can be a bit shy at first. Marty is approved for kids 10+.

Update (2/28): Marty is learning how to trust people and is coming out of his shell. Marty has been wagging his tail, giving kisses, playing with toys. He is house trained and will let you know when he needs to go out. He has been left alone in the house without being crated and has not disturbed anything. Marty enjoys going into his crate during the day which always remains open. It is his safe place and he fills it with toys and bones and pillows. He also likes to sleep in the crate at night in the bedroom with foster mom. He is happy to stay there until about 8 am-8:30. Marty is very timid when he first meets people and needs to be in a calm home. He loves his walks and has made friends with several neighborhood dogs. He would probably enjoy the company of another dog. No cat history, though he seemed very friendly with a neighborhood cat he frequently passes on walks. Marty is in need of a family who will provide the love and compassion he deserves.

Update (2/26): Marty is a handsome petite guy (55 lbs), he was a favorite with the kennel staff. He was quite timid initially when meeting people, but after a few hours in a foster home his true personality has emerged: sweet, calm, gentle and playful. He loves to go for walks, play with all types of toys, retrieve, gaze out the window, and give kisses. His tail wags any time someone pays attention to him. He knows some basic commands. He is house-trained and will let you know when he needs to go out, walks fairly well with a harness, has not disturbed anything in the house and does not whine or pant. Marty slept very well on his first night out of the kennel, on the floor near foster mom and he didn't make a sound until FM got up at 8:30. Marty is good with other dogs, but can be a bit shy at first. He may do best in a quiet, calm household and he will be a loyal, faithful companion to anyone willing to show him some love and kindness.

Update (2/25): Meet Marty who came to LRCP as a very frightened stray. But Marty doesn't need to worry any more about finding food to eat and staying warm. His most pressing preoccupation is which toy to play with. Marty is settling into his foster home and in the past couple of hours he's been wagging his tail, playing with toys, accepting treats, napping and giving kisses. He is hoping to find his forever home very soon, ideally in a calm household.
